Isn’t it a tad frustrating to put on lipstick in the morning only to find it mostly smudged off and gone just after a few hours? For many of the religious makeup enthusiasts out there, the biggest question remains to be the secret behind extending the staying power of our favorite lipsticks. Many brands may have come up with long-lasting lipstick formulations, but making regular lippies stay on longer is still a mystery we’d like to have the answer to. While it may be a nuisance to constantly pull out a tube of lipstick from your makeup kit, retouching seems to be the only clear solution. Because we’re admittedly curious ourselves, we thought we might as well search for some answers and try them out for ourselves. Below, we’re sharing two of the best tried-and-tested tips for longer-lasting lipstick:
Exfoliate your lips before applying lipstick.
Bubblegum Lip Scrub, Php495, Lush
Scrubbing off the dead skin of your lips is totally recommended, otherwise your lipstick might just slide off instead of stick to the surface of your puckers. Use a luscious lip scrub like this to gently exfoliate, but gently rubbing your lips with a toothbrush will work just fine.
Dab a litle bit of foundation or concealer on your lips as base.
HD Concealer in Tan, Php360, NYX Cosmetics
As you apply foundation or concealer on your face, use it as a lipstick base and dab some of the excess on your lips as well. Doing this will help the lipstick cling to your lips better and last longer.
